Playscript for 'Used Up' by Dion Boucicault, 1850-1851. One of a set of 4 prompt books used by Charles Dickens as an acting copy with autograph notes. It is interleaved with manuscript notes, stage directions, etc., also diagram of stage, list of actors and inscription on fly-leaf, 'at Rockingham Castle 13th & 15th Jany 1851', numerous underlinings and alterations to text throughout, all in Dickens's hand. The script is in a black leather binding, housed in a slipcase titled 'Amateur Theatricals', with three other playscripts also used by Dickens: 'Animal Magnetism', 'A Wonderful Woman' and 'Turning the Tables' ([lib]5176,[lib]5177 and [lib]5178).
