Bound, hardback playscript of 'Not So Bad As We Seem' by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1851. This is the acting copy belonging to Charles Dickens and contains his and John Forster's revisions in both their hands. The play was performed May 1851 in aid of the Guild of Literature and Art. There are a further three copies of the play marked 'Private and Confidential' and printed with updated revisions made by Dickens and Forster. The other scripts belonged to cast members Douglas Jerrold, Frank Stone and F W Topham ([lib]6359, [lib]6360 and [lib]6358).
