These 'most valuable and imperishable remains' (as the editor too partially calls them) are preceded by an elegant Dedication by him to the Duke of Newcastle (at whose expense a monument to Dryden in Westminster Abbey was promised to have been erected, and for which he is here ironically thanked, for the promise was never fulfilled). In this Dedication interesting Personal details relating to the great Poet are fondly dilated on.
