Considerable Excisions and Alterations from the original (entirely in the Author's Autograph) are made in this volume, in order to bring it within a reasonable compass for a 'Reading'. Extraordinary care has been taken by him in its preparation (even as to alteration of voice, &c.) and it is evident that his version of some parts occasionally varied.
On the fly-leaf he has written in pencil his daily appointment, during three weeks, with the name of his Hotel in each town.
