Presentation copy; inscribed, 'Charles Dickens, Esq., with the sincere regards of Henry G. Bohn.' Member of the Philobiblion [so misprinted] Society. 'April 4th, 1864.' Inserted is the following autograph note: 'My Dear Sir: I don't know anybody better entitled than you to receive a literary recognition from me, I therefore, in this feeling, beg your acceptance of a volume which has cost me considerable labour, and which has at least the bibliographical merit of being inaccessible for money. You will find much that is new in it, although more in the field of conjecture than ''new facts''. Yours, my dear Sir, sincerely, Henry G. Bohn.'
